Thanks in the City

This year I decided that I was going to experience a NYC Thanksgiving.

My holiday began last night on my walk up Columbus Avenue after class. The temp had dropped quite drastically since I had left that morning so I, being a tad underdressed was hurrying home until I happened upon a sight that I couldn't pass up!

Gigantic Balloons!

79th and 81st streets were closed for the evening to accomodate the enormous task of inflating the balloons and it's a huge attraction with kids running everywhere and media swarming around getting B-roll and interviews all over the place.

I ran home to get my camera and when I returned to 81st street the balloons had taken shape.

...so this morning, to fulfill my NYC Thanksgiving, I was standing at 71st and Central Park West at 6AM! All bundled up and ready for the 3 hour wait. A memory not soon forgotten.(partially because I am still drying out!)

I stuck it out, and the parade was so fun, but an hour in the downpour began, the camera was put away,...and after only15 minutes of praying the rain would stop...I, completly waterlogged and FREEZING acknowledged wisdom. (was I deaf at 6AM?)

I went home, dried off, watched the rest of the parade, had some turkey, and watched my Cowboys beat the Buccs!

Overall I would say it was a fantastic day and a successful NYC Thanksgiving :)

#22

Emmitt Smith, the greatest running back ever... and my all-time favorite... is now the reigning "Dancing With the Stars" champion. There was never a doubt in my mind he'd come out on top! I learned how to play football watching him so hopefully his good dancing will help me with my Jazz class now too :)

You're not in Kansas anymore!

... and the simplicity of removing old funiture from one's apartment is long gone! My friend Mitch and I discoverd this a couple weeks ago as we sat looking at the skankiest sofabed ever!

Since there was no way in hell
Mitch or I would ever sit on "skanky couch"

I couldn't resist my inner child!

We succombed to defeat almost immediatly after getting to the door and decided demolition was the only option!

What we found inside.........

No words...

An organized demolition and four trips up the block and "skanky" was finally out and in its proper place!

Another crazy memory :)
